(This fee is inclusive of additional treatment planning and administration time required pre/post assessment).

It may be noted that the current recommended fee schedule set by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) is $318 and the recommended fee schedule set by the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPi) is $330 for a 46-60 minute psychology session. Our philosophy is that everybody has the right to access affordable support, which is why we remain well below the recommended fee.

At The Nurture Lounge, Medicare rebates are available for services provided under a Mental Health Care Plan (also commonly referred to as a Mental Health Treatment Plan). You may be able to access a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) referral from your GP. Medicare rebates with a General Psychologist are currently $98.95 per session. This leaves a gap cost of $151.05 per session.

A Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) is completed with your GP prior to your first psychology appointment. A MHCP entitles you to up to 10 individual sessions and 10 group therapy sessions per person, per calendar year.

Typically, your GP will refer you for 6 sessions initially. Following the 6th session your psychologist provides a MHCP review letter to your GP that contains general information regarding your treatment to-date and recommendations for future treatment. You book a follow up MHCP review appointment with your GP to review your progress. Following your MHCP review if deemed appropriate your GP will re-refer you for an additional 4 sessions - totalling 10 sessions per calendar year.  

Please note: For your convenience, Medicare rebates are processed on your behalf following your appointment using our secure online system and your rebate will be paid directly into your nominated bank account. 

No referral necessary for private sessions. As a private client, the full fee for sessions are payable by you. For these sessions you may be eligible to receive a rebate through your private health fund. Rebates available are dependent on individual cover. Please contact your health insurance provider to obtain a quote. You can claim directly with your insurer after your session, following payment of your session. If you are planning to access rebates via your private health insurer, please call your private health insurer to confirm your cover prior to your first appointment. 

Please note: You are unable to use your private health insurance if you are already accessing Medicare rebates for your session.

If you have a concession card or are attending university, you will qualify for financial assistance for appointments. If for any reason you are experiencing financial hardship, please contact us or discuss with Tamika at your next appointment. The Nurture Lounge is passionate about supporting our community and providing accessible services. 

We require two days’ notice if you are unable to keep an appointment. This is for courtesy to your psychologist and other clients who may require care. We will do our best to accommodate you when you notify us within 24hrs if you are unwell.

If, for some reason you need to cancel or postpone your appointment. The following terms apply:

(i) Cancellations given 48 hours or more prior to the session, no cancellation fee incurred. A full refund for fees already paid upfront will be provided (within 30 days via cheque or EFT) or a credit towards a future booking not more than 6 months after the cancelled session.

(ii) Cancellations given 24 – 48 hours prior to the session, a cancellation fee of $100 will be charged.

(iii) Cancellations given less than 24 hours prior to the session, Whereby the client has not attended their session (no show), no refund or transfers will be approved. You or your funding agency will be charged the full cost for the session (i.e $210).

(iv) Medicare rebates can not be processed for cancellations, and you will be required to pay the standard fee (i.e $210) and will be deducted from the card details provided at the time of booking.

(v) For your convenience, sessions can be changed to Telehealth up to 10 minutes before the scheduled session time. Additionally, if we can reschedule your appointment to a mutually suitable time within the same calendar week, you will not be charged the cancellation fee.

(vi) No future appointments will be scheduled unless the account has been settled.

Please note Medicare and private health insurance rebates are not available for cancelled appointments.
